Please reconsider what “marriage” is.
TUMBLR BLOGGIN’
Marriage is a legal agreement.
It’s a merging of assets under the assumption the two people involved will be spending the rest of their lifetime with one another. Usually that person happens to be the one they love; but historically the religious ceremony was just to make the whole thing nicer. Everybody loves a party, right? Have a big party to send these people off, throw in some God and we’re good. And as this stuff was being invented, everything was better if you added a little God! It provided a small light in otherwise dreary lives; and it still does today.
It’s just really needed for people to consider what marriage is actually doing for these people. It’s not a matter of religion, it’s a matter of insurance and every other legal part of marriage that these couples may be after. Restricting these rights because of religious disputes does not make sense because it has nothing to do with religion.
I’m not going to say the religious part is bad; it’s not. It’s endearing and wonderful when it works out correctly, but saying that its a Christian thing to have a wedding and having a gay marriage would offend Christians is a bit awkward! Marriage is a universal ceremony that spans most/all people, and just because the dominant religion where we live is Christianity does not mean other options should be completely ignored!
Now stop cutting off some of those people who want to get all those legal benefits from marriage because it’s against your religion. It won’t affect you at all! Let them go to hell, why do you care?
You could be debating stuff that we haven’t been running in circles over for the past couple years instead! Like, something current and not stale as fuck.
Seriously can we
please just end this issue
it should not be an issue by now and people won’t shut up about it
