i hate that concept too
but not because i’m being a fuckhead who only wants homoerotic subtext
what are you people doing
it’s problematic because it implies the possible existence of some ~Strong Female Character~ who needs to be brought down a rung who’s only purpose in the show is for UST and petty banter in an otherwise generic cop show
actually I am absolutely positive that’s going to happen and it’s grossing me out
like john watson is an excessively civilian character who’s the viewer avatar, and his character is mostly about being a normal dude, with normal people feelings, and who is kind of exhausted with sherlock’s everything but he really loves and trusts him because they’re best bropals forever and it’s easy to see them in a romantic situation because they’re so generally compatible
in the original novels watson was sassy and even more exhausted with sherlock, considering the ways of the times
I am scared that sort of character feel on either ends will be lost in an attempt to write a good female character
and we’ll end up with this chick who has her nose up in the air screaming “look how STRONG AND INDEPENDENT I AM”
I’m so confused as to why Lucy Liu of all people is the Watson character.
Seriously?
If anything she’d be the Sherlock character. Holy crap. Just. No.
if she were sherlock then it would just be bones 2.0
